Features: With China's reform and development entering a new stage, government transformation has become a key factor in advancing further reform and opening-up and building a harmonious society. From recent years' reform practices, we have seen that whether the next phase of reforms will achieve positive progress largely depends on the actual progress of government transformation. The primary goal of our research is to serve China's policy-making on reforms. It is precisely this sense of mission to advance China's reform process that motivates us to make relentless efforts in the study of government transformation. Our institute has conducted in-depth research on topics such as enterprise reform, rural reform, government reform, financial reform, income distribution systems, and reforms in basic sectors. Direct Advice on China's Reform (November 2001 - October 2006) is a sequel to our previously published Direct Advice on China's Reform (November 1991 - October 2001). Focusing on government transformation as its main theme, this book compiles policy advice reports formed by our institute from November 2001 to the present, along with some conference summaries and questionnaire survey reports. These advice reports, conference summaries, and questionnaire survey reports were developed under certain historical conditions, and when edited into a book, the original views and expressions were left unchanged.
