Features: The "Compendium of Five-Style Chinese Characters" is a collection of works by famous calligraphers in the five styles of Chinese characters—seal script, clerical script, regular script, running script, and cursive script—throughout Chinese history. Based on the large-scale calligraphy reference books published by the Cultural Relics Publishing House, such as "Compendium of Cursive Script," "Compendium of Clerical Script," "Compendium of Running Script," "Compendium of Seal Script," and "Compendium of Regular Script," it supplements some new materials and integrates over ten calligraphy compendium books published since the Tang Dynasty. The entire work is divided into two volumes and serves as a reference for calligraphy researchers, ancient artifact scholars, textual reformers, and.
This compendium includes the works of 616 famous calligraphers from the Qin and Han dynasties to the present, as well as oracle bone script, bronze inscriptions, epitaphs, sculptures, and inscriptions, totaling over 2,500 pieces. All works are selected and reproduced based on their original forms to preserve their authenticity. The compendium is organized according to the new "Dictionary of Modern Chinese" radical index system. It contains 4,560 single characters and over 60,000 stylized characters. Under each example of regular script, there are 369 variant characters and 1,403 simplified characters. The stylized characters are arranged in the order of seal script, clerical script, regular script, running script, and cursive script, from top to bottom and from right to left, with larger characters following smaller ones. Each example character is annotated with the calligrapher's name, the title of the calligraphy book, or the name of the stele or tablet it was derived from.
At the end of the book, there are appendices including the "List of Quoted Calligraphers' Works," "List of Quoted Seal Script Materials," "List of Quoted Clerical Script Materials," "List of Quoted Regular Script Materials," and "List of Main Reference Books," for easy reference.
