Features: Regular script. Written by Tang Dynasty calligrapher Yan Zhenqing. Erected in the 12th year of the Dali era. It has suffered repeated disasters and calamities, leaving only a few fragments today. Yan Zhenqing was a renowned calligrapher of the mid-Tang Dynasty. His style is robust, powerful, grand, and distinctive, forming the "Yan style" (Yan) that greatly influenced later generations. This stele is a late work of Yan Zhenqing, possessing the brushwork of seal and clerical scripts. The strokes are level, elegant, and vigorous; the structure is expansive, with characters facing each other, employing simplicity as cleverness. At transitions, no sharp angles are used, but the brush lifts subtly, maintaining a complete spirit and ample energy. When practicing this stele, avoid writing the roundness and thickness of Yan's characters as clumsy and fat; and the spaciousness of the structure as loose. Calligraphy is one of the traditional arts of China with strong national characteristics and practical value. Today, as we build socialist spiritual civilization, more and more people are interested in and learning calligraphy.
