Remembering Father Gu Xun Gu Ying
Time flies—it’s been 30 years since Father passed away. Whenever I close my eyes, his voice and smile appear before me. In our eyes, Father’s life was like a sponge, constantly absorbing various scientific knowledge for the country’s meteorological cause, working tirelessly, and also bringing us much joy in life, leaving us with deep memories.
(1) Upon returning from abroad, he devoted himself entirely to the meteorological cause. No matter how busy he was, he always took time on Sundays to take my sister and me to the park. We left our footprints in the mountains and waters of Fragrant Hills, Yuanmingyuan, and the Summer Palace. I remember when we visited Yuanmingyuan, Father explained its history to us as he watched, turning it into a vivid classroom for exploring historical sites and sparking our great interest in the original grandeur of Yuanmingyuan. Father often educated us in life and play.
(2) Father was a "bookworm." He had a large bookshelf filled with books, from floor to ceiling. The shelves were lined with his beloved books, covering a wide variety of genres—astronomy, geography, famous novels, history, medicine, and music.
