Features: The works the author holds dear may not necessarily be valued by readers, and many works readers enjoy, the author may not wish to mention. The best scenario, of course, is when a work is cherished and liked by both the writer and the reader. The book is titled Forgotten because it is one of my favorite novels. However, whether readers will like it, I cannot be certain. I can only say that readers familiar with the Chang'e flying to the moon myth may find it interesting. The lives of contemporary intellectuals, ancient Chinese myths, and the cultural background of postmodernism all converge here, resulting in a series of comical situations. Many of the stories I wrote often made me laugh out loud. However, you can certainly tell that my laughter is often more awkward than my crying. The Wife of a Friend is my new work. I have written a few novels related to the educated youth, and this is the latest one. The educated youth generation has long since entered middle age, and the struggles between abstinence and indulgence, experience and ethics among middle-aged intellectuals in this era are indeed a significant part of history. The joys and sorrows within this context are, of course, not something one novel can fully describe. I hope to write new works in this field in the future. The Mentor Is Dead and Poetics After Noon are, according to critical circles, my representative works, while The National Highway is a secondary inclusion in the collection. These works were published together because they share certain connections in form or theme. The expression of The National Highway may be more absurd. However, one thing is certain—I have never been a writer who prioritizes form above all else. This novella also reflects my concern for another kind of life. There are many things that cannot be forgotten, such as the hardships of writing, the joy of thinking, and gratitude toward readers. Today, both writing and reading are like "fish in water,." Let us comfort each other in this way.
A Selected Collection of Novels and Mid-Length Novels by the Renowned Writer Li Huo. Works full of artistic innovation and exploration in the contemporary literary scene. This collection includes Li Huo's recently innovative novel Forgotten (awarded the "Dajia Literature Prize" in 2002) and his mid-length representative works The Wife of a Friend, The Mentor Is Dead, Poetics After Noon, and The National Highway. The novels primarily depict the lives, behaviors, and ways of thinking of contemporary intellectuals, highlighting the separation between their spirits and actions. Through the portrayal and parody of history, reality, and social phenomena, the works exhibit a subtle critical sense. The stories are thought-provoking and well worth reading.
