Features: Neurosurgery has developed into a highly specialized discipline, which is why neurosurgical nursing must evolve in the direction of specialization, depth, detail, and precision. Therefore, neurosurgical nurses must not only possess excellent professional qualities, knowledge, and skills but also have extensive practical experience and keen observation abilities to effectively fulfill clinical nursing tasks. The level of neurosurgery in China can rival that of international peers, with certain fields already reaching international advanced standards. However, there is currently no comprehensive and systematic textbook on neurosurgical nursing in China. Given these circumstances, we have organized the writing of this book, Neurosurgical Nursing. The writing format of this book includes: an overview of common neurosurgical diseases, clinical manifestations, medical diagnosis, primary nursing diagnoses/nursing problems, nursing assessment, related factors, goals or expected outcomes, and nursing interventions. When determining nursing diagnoses/nursing problems, the primary basis is the patient's nursing needs, including existing or potential health issues, the causes of the problems, and the symptoms and signs exhibited. This follows the PES formula (Problem, Etiology, Signs/Symptoms), where the patient's clinical symptoms and signs are one of the important bases for nursing diagnoses/nursing problems. As of 1998, the North American Nursing Diagnosis Association had proposed 148 nursing diagnoses. However, due to the of neurosurgical diseases, it cannot cover all nursing problems encountered in clinical neurosurgical nursing. The authors of this book, based on their long-term clinical experience, have made some attempts and explorations, aiming to further refine it and provide some guidance for neurosurgical nursing work, thereby promoting the further development of neurosurgical nursing in China.
