Features: Although China's older generation of vascular surgeons have made significant contributions in the field of vascular surgery, China's vascular surgery remains far behind Western developed countries. With the development of China's scientific endeavors, vascular surgery has also experienced rapid progress. Since the early 1980s of the 20th century, particularly in the past decade, the development has been especially swift. In 1993, the Second National Vascular Surgery Academic Conference was held, and the Vascular Surgery Group was established, marking a milestone for the advancement of vascular surgery in China.
The number of specialists engaged in vascular surgery has been steadily increasing, and many hospitals have subsequently established vascular surgery departments. These departments not only conduct clinical work and research but have also achieved remarkable accomplishments in basic and experimental research, with some reaching international leading levels. However, due to the relatively late start of vascular surgery in China and the limited professional workforce, as well as the scarcity of domestic reference materials, the authors began to conceptualize and collect relevant domestic and international data on vascular surgery a decade ago. Combining their clinical experience, they compiled this book, Surgical Vascular Surgery.
Surgical Vascular Surgery is based on the integration of theoretical knowledge, experience, and techniques from both domestic and international vascular surgery, while also incorporating the authors' own experiences, insights, and innovative surgical methods. It is designed to be practical, with clear illustrations to guide surgical procedures. Each section (for each surgical procedure) begins with an introduction to the history of the disease or surgery, as well as local anatomy, followed by a description of the indications, contraindications, surgical preparation, and anesthesia selection. The surgical steps include both methods and techniques, representing a fusion of advanced domestic and international technologies, all illustrated to ensure smooth execution of the surgery.
Detailed discussions are provided on postoperative care and the prevention and management of surgical complications, offering systematic and comprehensive insights into the disease before, during, and after surgery. This undoubtedly serves as an important reference for numerous surgeons, enabling them to engage more effectively and productively in clinical vascular surgery.
The book is divided into four parts: Part I introduces basic techniques in vascular surgery; Part II covers arterial surgery; Part III discusses venous surgery; and Part IV addresses vascular injuries. Arterial or venous surgery is described in a systematic manner, progressing from the upper torso downward for each condition. The book includes nearly 1,500 illustrations, with detailed and lifelike line drawings. In addition to traditional surgical methods, it incorporates several new techniques. The content is rich and up-to-date, with concise yet comprehensive modern theoretical summaries, fully reflecting the current achievements in domestic and international vascular surgery.
