Features: For a considerable period of time, healthcare workers in our country have focused solely on improving their medical and nursing skills while neglecting the cultivation of professional quality, ethics, and etiquette. As a result, healthcare workers are often perceived as lacking the necessary approachability. With the transformation of the medical model, medicine has expanded from a purely biomedical field to encompass psychological and social dimensions. The image, demeanor, speech, and expressions of healthcare workers can directly or indirectly impact the physical and mental health of service recipients, thereby affecting the outcomes of medical and nursing care. Therefore, it is essential for healthcare workers to study professional etiquette, enhance their overall quality, improve service quality, and achieve patient-centered holistic care, which aligns with the needs of the modern medical model. This textbook has been developed to meet the demands of social progress and the transformation of the modern medical model, as well as to implement the spirit of the Third National Education Conference and the Decision of the Central Committee and State Council on Deepening Education Reform and Comprehensively Promoting Quality Education. Under the leadership of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health, it was compiled according to the Teaching Plan and Syllabus for Medical and Health Professional Programs in Secondary Vocational Schools, as recommended by the Health Vocational Education Teaching Guidance Committee in 2001. It can be used for teaching in nursing programs at secondary vocational health schools and also serves as an important reference for the quality training of clinical nursing staff. The book is divided into nine parts, providing a comprehensive and systematic introduction to the etiquette knowledge that nursing workers should master. The introduction covers the brief history of etiquette, its fundamental concepts, and the importance of nursing etiquette. Chapters 2 to 6 are the core of the book, offering a detailed and thorough explanation of the etiquette requirements for nursing professionals in terms of appearance, demeanor, attire, speech, communication, and work, supplemented by specific behavioral simulation training. This emphasizes the practicality and operability of professional etiquette, enabling learners to truly apply what they have learned. Appendix 1 introduces related etiquette knowledge as reference material for self-study, while Appendix 2 presents the teaching syllabus for this course, serving as a guiding document for instructors. Schools may refer to it according to their own circumstances. Learning and mastering the professional etiquette norms introduced in this book is of great significance for improving the overall quality of nursing workers, enhancing service quality, and boosting the social and economic benefits of medical services. Strengthening etiquette education for nursing students during their learning phase to comprehensively improve their overall quality is a reform measure in medical vocational education, reflecting the implementation of the Decision of the Central Committee and State Council on Deepening Education Reform and Comprehensively Promoting Quality Education. It will help cultivate qualified nurses for the new era and align with the trends of modern medical development. The authors of this book are active practitioners in clinical nursing and nursing education. They have reviewed a vast amount of literature and materials, combined with the practical needs of clinical nursing work, as well as the opinions and suggestions from people of all social strata regarding medical and nursing services. After extensive discussions and multiple revisions, they have compiled this book with the hope of promoting teaching reform in secondary health vocational education and providing guidance for the cultivation and improvement of professional etiquette among clinical nursing staff.
