Features: To adapt to the reform of medical education in the 21st century and the cultivation of prevention medicine talents, the Office of Medical Education Textbooks of the Ministry of Health decided to revise the textbooks for prevention medicine for the fifth round. In July 2002, the Textbook Evaluation Committee and the Main Editors' Meeting for the Fifth Round Planning Textbooks were held in Harbin, where the guiding ideology and principles for the writing of the fifth edition were clarified: the revision of the new textbooks must adapt to teaching reform, strictly follow the training objectives of the five-year prevention medicine program, and strive to meet the needs of social progress, technological and health service development in the new century. It should also serve the requirements of health prevention medical personnel in terms of ideological and moral quality, scientific and cultural literacy, physical and mental quality, and professional quality. This set of prevention medicine textbooks should focus on overall optimization to form a complete system, avoiding unnecessary repetition among different textbooks. All attendees discussed the writing outlines and contributors of each textbook.
