Features: This textbook is compiled according to the teaching plan and syllabus for secondary vocational education textbooks established by the Ministry of Education. (The teaching syllabus of this textbook has been slightly adjusted and approved by the Teaching Materials Office of the Ministry of Health and the Textbook Evaluation Committee, with the revised syllabus attached at the back.) In the writing process, it strives to embody the "Three Basics" (basic theory, fundamental knowledge, and basic skills), the "Five Qualities" (ideological nature, scientific nature, advanced nature, heuristic nature, and applicability), and the "Three Specifics" (specific target audience, specific requirements, and specific limitations), while adhering to the principle of "prevention first." The 21st century is a stage where human demand for health is developing to a higher level. Maternal and child health care revolves around the three major themes of health care in the new century—preparation for life, protection of life, and quality of life in later years. This textbook is a newly compiled one, focusing on these themes, with significant reforms in its writing process, aiming to accurately reflect the development of contemporary maternal and child health care, align with China's national conditions, and adapt to the practical needs of secondary vocational education in terms of depth and breadth. The book consists of 20 chapters and over 250,000 words, primarily serving as a textbook for midwifery professionals, but can also be used as a reference for medical workers in maternal and child health care. A companion textbook, "Review and Examination Guide for Maternal and Child Health Care," is also published for review and examination reference.
