Features: The National Standard "Code for Design of Levee Engineering" was developed in accordance with the requirements of the State Planning Commission's "Plan for Formulation and Revision of Construction and Engineering Standards in 1992" (No. 490, Jisong [92]), and was primarily drafted by the Ministry of Water Resources. The specific preparation was carried out jointly by the General Institute of Water Conservancy and Hydropower Planning and Design of the Ministry of Water Resources, the Yellow River Water Conservancy Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources, the Water Conservancy Department of Guangxi Autonomous Region, and other twelve organizations. The standard underwent a joint review by relevant departments, was approved by the Ministry of Construction with document No. 185 (Ji [1998]), and was jointly issued by the Ministry of Construction and the National Administration for Quality and Technology Supervision. During the preparation process, the drafting team conducted extensive research, summarized the practical experience of levee engineering construction in China, widely solicited opinions from relevant units and experts across the country, and also searched for and referenced design indicators and advanced standards from major countries abroad.
