It primarily describes the phenomena, causes, and prevention and treatment measures for "common diseases" and "frequent ailments" in construction. It also introduces some quality issues caused by design and their prevention and treatment methods. Based on the second edition, the third edition has undergone significant revisions. Some chapters have been rewritten, new content has been added, and a few chapters have been deleted. Nine new chapters have been added, including Construction Surveying, Blasting, Deep Foundations, Shallow Foundations, Underground Continuous Walls, Special Concrete, Building Facades, Ancient Architecture, and Outdoor Engineering. The entire book has been expanded from 40 chapters to 50 chapters. The number of quality issue entries has increased from 1,040 in the second edition to 1,633, and the book has been revised according to the new national regulations and industry standards issued after the second edition, especially the 14 newly promulgated construction quality acceptance specifications in 2002.
