Features: The book includes a total of 32 papers. The first paper introduces the current development status of highways at home and abroad, as well as the geotechnical issues that must be addressed when constructing highways on soft clay foundations. The remaining papers take the Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway test section as the main engineering case study, introducing technical approaches to solve the aforementioned problems and the achievements obtained. Among them, Papers 3 to 6 discuss the compressive characteristics of soft clay, particularly the influence of soil structure on foundation compressibility, as well as the multiple functions of the static cone penetration test (CPTU). Papers 7 to 10 propose methods for settlement calculation that consider soil structure, instantaneous settlement calculation methods, and the application of CPTU parameters for settlement calculation. Papers 11 to 13 evaluate the effects of four major reinforcement schemes on foundation deformation from multiple perspectives. Papers 14 to 18 introduce achievements in finite element analysis, centrifugal model testing, and scheme selection. Papers 19 to 32 present the deformation patterns of the foundation for 13 different reinforcement schemes.
