Features: Through the analysis and research of theories and practices in ecologically-oriented architectural design, the author aims to grasp the development patterns and trends of such design. Based on this, combining the achievements of ecology, the author attempts to propose unique insights into the theory of ecologically-oriented architectural design, introducing concepts such as the holistic ecological architectural perspective, the ecosystem structure framework, and the ecological climate buffer. Building on theoretical research, the author proposes innovative solutions for the design of ecologically-oriented rural houses in the southern Jiangsu region, considering specific climatic and environmental conditions.
This paper begins by exploring the early seeds of ecologically-oriented architectural design that emerged in modern architectural history, pointing out that early research related to ecologically-oriented design was primarily expressed as climate-adaptive architectural design. Subsequently, it focuses on analyzing the theories and practices that emerged after the 1960s, examining their background and evolutionary process. By categorizing them into rural and urban tendencies, the author summarizes and synthesizes the more prominent ecologically-oriented architectural designs and theories.
Chapter 4 primarily aims to establish the holistic ecological architectural perspective by differentiating the relationship between ecosystems and architectural systems. Chapter 5 introduces the ecosystem structure framework and the ecological climate buffer, providing a macro and micro analysis of the goals and strategies of ecologically-oriented architectural design. Chapter 6 is a case study, where the author applies the summarized theories directly to the design practice of the Shuangshandao Ecological Rural House in Zhangjiagang City, conducting an in-depth and scientific exploration.
