Features: Dutch architectural creation is always rooted in the country's social and cultural foundations, although it is sometimes influenced by a passion for innovation and long-term, stable funding commitments for housing. The Netherlands may be one of the most exciting countries in Europe today, gathering the most thrilling contemporary architectural works. This guidebook is not a comprehensive introduction to Dutch architecture; to achieve that purpose, it would require many volumes to cover the incredible range of architectural works in the country. More precisely, this book is a curated selection of individual architectural works, exemplifying the spirit of contemporary Dutch architecture. The main purpose of this book is to showcase the diversity of Dutch architecture, from small rooms for placing toys to large-scale collective housing and urban development projects. The book also highlights the works of various architectural firms, from established ones to young, newly formed ones, such as MVRDV and Neuteins Riedijk. Of course, it would be impossible to overlook the renowned architect Rem Koolhaas—the leader of the urban architectural firm in Rotterdam—a figure whose fame is so pervasive that he seems omnipresent.
