Features: When the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine released GB/Z18620-2002, it did not simultaneously abolish GB/T13924-1992. Therefore, personnel involved in the design, manufacturing, inspection, and standardization of gear products should not only learn and master GB/Z18620-2002 but also be familiar with and master the provisions of GB/T13924-1992. The National Gear Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC52) stated when explaining GB/Z18620-2002 that in the evaluation of product gear quality, the provisions of GB/T13924-1992 should continue to be implemented simultaneously. Due to space limitations and considering that GB/T13924-1992 has already been introduced in many specialized works, this book only introduces GB/Z18620-2002 regarding gear inspection. In practical work, not all precision items specified in GB/T10095-2001 will be provided on the design drawings, and thus, it is neither economical nor necessary to inspect every precision item of the gear. As mentioned earlier, for specific gears, some precision items may have no significant impact on their functional requirements, while the inspection of some precision items can replace others. For example, the inspection of tangential composite error can replace the inspection of pitch deviation, and the inspection of radial composite error can replace the inspection of (tooth ring) radial runout. The ISO/TR10063 currently under development will recommend groups of inspection items and tolerance families for drawings based on gear performance requirements. It must be emphasized that the determination of gear inspection items must be agreed upon by both the supplier and the customer to be valid.
