Features:
----This specification was revised and compiled by a team formed by Beijing Iron and Steel Design and Research Institute, in collaboration with relevant design, teaching, and research units, to comprehensively revise the "Code for Design of Steel Structures" GB17—88. It was promulgated by the Ministry of Construction through Announcement No. 147 and implemented on December 1, 2003.
----This specification consists of 11 chapters and 6 appendices. Its main contents include General Provisions, Terms and Symbols, Basic Design Requirements, Calculation of Bending Members, Calculation of Axially Loaded Members and Axial-Yielded Members, Fatigue Calculation, Connection Calculation, Construction Requirements, Plastic Design, Steel Pipe Structures, and Composite Steel-Concrete Beams.
During this revision, while modifying, adjusting, and deleting original provisions, many new contents were added, such as:
- Load and load effect calculations,
- Calculation methods for the buckling of axially loaded members with singly symmetric cross-sections under bending-torsional buckling about the symmetry axis,
- Determination methods for the effective length of sway columns in unstayed pure frame columns and weakly supported frame columns,
- Rigid connections between beams and columns,
- Calculation of plate elements at connection nodes,
- Design and construction specifications for plug-in column bases, embedded column bases, and encased column bases,
- Design and construction requirements for large-span roof structures,
- Requirements for improving the brittle fracture resistance of structures in cold regions,
- Strength calculation formulas for spatial round tube joints, etc.
