Patient's question:
Infant dacryocystitis, the child has had this condition for a long time. I am very worried and afraid it will worsen. Please give me some advice, doctor.Doctor's answer:
Why does infant dacryocystitis cause tearing? Originally, when a child is born, the lower end of the lacrimal duct is blocked by a congenital layer of film or obstructed by epithelial debris, preventing normally secreted tears from draining through the lacrimal duct. Tears are forced to flow down the face, resulting in persistent tearing. In most cases, this film is intact at birth. After 3 to 4 weeks, it breaks down on its own, restoring lacrimal duct patency and improving the condition of continuous tearing. It is recommended that you closely observe your child's condition and seek medical examination and treatment if necessary.
