Features: The scope of the renovation project for the Hall of Supreme Harmony, the Pagoda of Great Compassion, and the Long Corridor in the Summer Palace includes the Hall of Supreme Harmony scenic area, the Pagoda of Turning Wheel Dharma scenic area, the Five-Pillar Pavilion scenic area, the Pagoda of Great Compassion scenic area, and the Long Corridor scenic area. The total area of the ancient building restoration is approximately 9,389.95 square meters. The project began construction in January 2005 and was completed in September 2006. The renovation primarily followed the unique "Project Regulations for Wanshou Mountain." To preserve the original craftsmanship techniques of the ancient buildings in the Summer Palace and retain valuable historical information, the project retained the original practices that differed from typical official-style architecture. This scientific approach is highly important. The ancient buildings selected for this key renovation in the Summer Palace are all significant scenic area buildings. The Hall of Supreme Harmony and the Pagoda of Great Compassion are iconic landmarks of the Summer Palace, facing Kunming Lake and towering majestically on Wanshou Mountain, appearing grand and spectacular. The 728-meter-long corridor is the longest ancient building gallery in China and even the world. For the protection and value display of the Summer Palace as a World Heritage site, the images of the Hall of Supreme Harmony, the Pagoda of Great Compassion, and the Long Corridor are crucial. Their restoration will play a significant role in the upcoming 2008 Beijing Olympics, adding glory and splendor to the "Cultural Olympics."
