Features: Although the dynamic loads encountered in soil dynamic property studies are mostly irregularly varying, even randomly varying, soil dynamics experiments have long been conducted under regularly varying, even sinusoidal, dynamic load histories to study the development of pore water pressure and consolidation. However, a few experiments under irregular dynamic loads have already found that variations in the amplitude of dynamic loads, differences in waveforms, and even differences in wave sequences can all affect the development of dynamic stress and dynamic pore water pressure, thereby demonstrating the rationality and necessity of studying soil properties based on actual possible dynamic load waveforms. This book treats the time histories of dynamic stress, dynamic strain, and dynamic pore water pressure as random processes. By performing amplitude analysis and correlation analysis in the time domain or spectral analysis and correlation (coherence) analysis in the frequency domain, certain characteristic parameters of the random process are combined with the physical concepts of different soil property parameters in soil dynamics. Through the corresponding selection of random process characteristic parameters, parameters that characterize the dynamic strength and deformation properties of the soil are determined. The approach has a clear concept and sufficient theoretical basis, making it believed that this interdisciplinary integration offers certain inspiration for in-depth research.
