Features: This book is the concluding outcome of the annual key research project of Tourism Management, a key construction discipline in Beijing. It is titled "China International Tourism Development Annual Report 2004." First, international tourism is increasingly prominent in China's overall tourism industry, having become the fastest-growing market segment in terms of both the number of travelers and consumer spending. Second, achieving cross-border operations and scale expansion for Chinese tourism enterprises requires a deeper understanding, analysis, and research of the market and industry dynamics of international tourism in China. Third, we believe that after more than 20 years of development, China's tourism academic evolution and higher education development need a batch of original, landmark research outcomes. At the same time, on a global scale, international tourism is one of the most promising fields for China's tourism academic research. Therefore, we have defined the working objectives of this research as follows: On the basis of grasping the macro development process, annual characteristics, and influencing factors of China's international tourism, we will focus on analyzing the consumption patterns and industry operational features of China's international tourism market, forecasting market and industry trends, and providing strong academic support for the strategic expansion of Chinese tourism enterprises and government industry policies.
