Features: Kang Xiuyan entered the Department of Mathematics at Nankai University in 1962. During the Cultural Revolution, she taught at a middle school. She has remained dedicated to her work in middle school education for over three decades, having held various positions such as teacher, department head, deputy principal, and principal. Since 1993, she has served as the principal of Tianjin Nankai Middle School, becoming the sixth principal in the school's century-long history. In addition to her role as principal, she has been appointed as a part-time professor and master's supervisor at Tianjin Normal University, a member of the Tianjin Education Science Planning Leading Group, and a reviewer for the Tianjin Education Science "Fifteenth Five-Year Plan." She has also been appointed as a member of the National Education Master's Professional Degree Guidance Committee by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee. She has served as the vice president of the National Middle School Education Research Union and the vice president of the Tianjin Middle School Management Committee. Currently, she also serves as a standing committee member of the Tianjin Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the vice chairman of the Science and Education Committee. To rebuild a "pure and authentic" Nankai school, she has vigorously promoted and led the establishment of "Tianjin Nankai Xiangyu School" since 1994. Today, the school has high school, middle school, and primary school divisions and has become another high-quality educational institution.
