Features: The Advanced Reading Course can be used for one semester of teaching, consisting of sixteen lessons. Considering a weekly teaching schedule of three sessions, each lesson is divided into READING A and READING B (some lessons include READING C) parts, with most lessons incorporating articles related to the theme. In addition to introducing political, cultural, and other background information and teaching language points, teachers can also guide students in discussions on certain topics and provide necessary guidance on both oral and written responses. Furthermore, each lesson includes two supplementary materials: BACKGROUND KNOWLEDGE and FURTHER READING. The BACKGROUND KNOWLEDGE section collects materials that introduce the political, cultural, educational, and social backgrounds of the UK and the US, aiming for practicality rather than comprehensiveness. The FURTHER READING section is selected from English-language newspapers and magazines, as readers may have limited opportunities to directly engage with English media and are also time-constrained. This is also done to expand readers' reading volume and cultivate their interest in reading. If necessary, teachers may also use some articles from the FURTHER READING section in class or combine some thematically similar articles for discussion and analysis.
