Features: To systematically and comprehensively showcase the Chinese civilization to the world and provide historical references for the great practice of building a new era of material and spiritual civilization, this book series is compiled from a broad range of topics, categorized into various series. Its overall content covers all aspects of Chinese inventions and creations, literature and arts, famous scenic spots and historical sites, cultural relics and classics, folk customs, moral thoughts, and exchanges between East and West. These works will be published in phases. In the near future, we plan to launch ten titles, including Chinese painting, calligraphy, architecture, gardens, music, dance, poetry, drama, ceramics, and clothing, with a focus on showcasing the unique charm of traditional Chinese art and culture. To ensure the quality of this book series, we have invited scholars who have long been engaged in the study of Chinese culture, foreign language education, and publishing to form the editorial committee. The committee has recruited renowned domestic experts with research and teaching experience in related fields and outstanding academic achievements as authors, while also hiring foreign scholars well-versed in Chinese civilization studies to translate each work into English. This book series will be published in both Chinese and English to meet the eager demand of readers worldwide.
Chinese ceramics are the longest-burning, most complete, and possibly most numerous utilitarian art forms in human history. From the perspectives of research and appreciation, Chinese ceramics are not a simple concept; they possess profound connotations and diverse characteristics. They include at least the following aspects: 1. The history of Chinese ceramics; 2. The science and technology of Chinese ceramics; 3. The economy of Chinese ceramics; 4. The authentication of Chinese ceramics; 5. The appreciation of Chinese ceramic art; 6. The dissemination of Chinese ceramic culture. These six aspects should constitute the basic framework of Chinese ceramic studies. Currently, while the field of ceramic economy has not yet been extensively explored, the other five aspects have long been hot topics of research and exploration in academia and the field of cultural relic appreciation. However, regardless of the stage of research, appreciation, or collection of Chinese ceramics, or which of the above aspects is involved, the core content remains the ceramic artifacts themselves.
