Features: The structure of this book is as follows:
Chapter 1 is the general introduction, divided into two parts. First, it analyzes the Chinese-to-English translation and writing test questions for the National Unified Examination for Master's Degree Applicants with Equal Academic Qualifications. Then, it proposes preparing from two aspects: taking a long-term, foundational approach from a broad perspective, and focusing on basic sentence structures from smaller details. These basic sentence structures emphasize the classification of sentence patterns and phrases in terms of meaning and usage, rather than traditional grammar.
Chapter 2 is Chinese-to-English translation, divided into two parts. Part 1 introduces the Chinese-to-English translation test questions and standards. Part 2 provides Chinese-to-English translation examples and exercises, first offering translations and annotations for 20 sentences, with three to four translation options for each sentence.
Chapter 3 is English writing, divided into three parts. Part 1 introduces the requirements for English writing test questions by comparing the expectations of American university writing courses for students, highlighting that short essays should have clear personal arguments, rigorous reasoning, specific examples, and concise expression. Part 2 provides English short essay writing examples and exercises, first offering 20 short essays developed based on topic, central idea, outline, and writing structure, along with brief explanations; then, 40 short essays on various topics are also developed in the same structure. Part 3 is English abstract writing examples and exercises, first introducing the requirements and key points of English abstract writing, followed by 3 short essay abstracts with analysis and 7 short essay abstract writing exercises.
Chapter 4 is the reference answers, consisting of three parts: Chinese-to-English translation exercises, English short essay writing exercises, and English abstract writing exercises. Part 1 not only provides multiple reference answers for each Chinese-to-English translation exercise but also offers brief annotations and explanations for key points and difficulties.
