Features: Treasure Island is an adventure novel by the British New Romanticist writer Stevenson. Young Jim finds a treasure map in the belongings of the old pirate Billy and learns that the pirate captain Flint has buried a large sum of wealth on a deserted island. The squire Trevelyan buys a sailing ship, takes Jim and Dr. Livesey and others with him to seek treasure at sea. During the voyage, Jim accidentally discovers that out of the 26 crew members, 19 are pirates, and most of them are Flint's men, who are plotting a mutiny to seize the wealth. Unbeknownst to them, Jim, hiding in an apple barrel, overhears the plot and tells Dr. Livesey and others. Thus, a secret division forms on the ship, representing "evil" with Flint and "good" with the doctor. Dr. Livesey is clever and resourceful, while Jim is witty and brave. After several confrontations, the doctor's faction ultimately defeats Flint's larger group, with the treasure safely secured.
