Features: This listening is mainly adapted from "Modern Japanese: Listening Comprehension," written by the Department of Japanese Language and Culture at Nagoya University in Japan. "Modern Japanese" is a Japanese textbook specifically designed for students studying in Japan, divided into four volumes: Elementary I/II and Intermediate I/II. Each volume contains 9 lessons, with each lesson consisting of dialogue, grammar, exercises, listening, reading, and other sections. Since its publication in 1988, the Department of Japanese Language and Culture at Nagoya University has used these materials annually to hold various learning classes for students during spring vacation, summer vacation, early-term of the academic year, and late-term of the academic year. Due to its close alignment with the actual needs of students, it is easy to understand, highlights key points, and fully reflects the characteristics of modern Japanese. Students can achieve significant learning results in a short period of time.
Each lesson includes 2-3 listening materials, which are categorized into types A, B, and C.
A: Materials are sourced from public speeches. These are "standard" in terms of sentence patterns and pronunciation, containing many Chinese vocabulary words, making them less challenging for learners from the Chinese-speaking regions.
C: Materials are sourced from discussions or negotiations between Japanese people. These are rich in everyday life, contain habitual phonetic variations, have a larger vocabulary, and more "flexible" sentence structures, making them generally more difficult for foreigners.
B: Materials are based on scenarios where foreigners ask questions and Japanese people provide explanations, such as a student asking the hostess how to make Japanese dishes. These are easier than type C.
