Author: (English) Charles Dickens; translated by Dong Li
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2000-04-01
Features: The author reveals the horror and violence hidden in the narrow, dirty, and secluded streets of London. Therefore, he wrote for us the evil Fagin, the brutal Bill Sikes, and a large group of thieves and robbers. These people lie, cheat, steal, fear going to prison, fear the hangman putting the noose around their necks, and live in constant anxiety. Oliver Twist, a young orphan, is thrown into a world full of poverty and crime, starving, beaten, and cursed, and has never been loved. He writes for us Nancy—poor, miserable, and suffering Nancy, who lives in a cruel world but struggles to remain loyal to those she loves.
