Features: The reading materials and question formats for the TEM-8 (Test for English Majors-Band 8) are more challenging compared to college English, not only covering the literal and implied meanings of the texts but also emphasizing the analysis of the ideas, overall structure, language techniques, and rhetorical devices in the articles. According to the TEM-8 syllabus, the reading comprehension section consists of two parts (Section A and Section B). Section A is composed of several short passages totaling approximately 2,500 words, followed by 15 multiple-choice questions, requiring students to complete the test within 30 minutes based on the content, implied meanings, and characteristics of the passages. Section B tests students' speed-reading skills, also consisting of several short passages totaling about 3,000 words, followed by 10 multiple-choice questions, requiring students to use speed-reading and skimming techniques to complete the test within 10 minutes based on the passage content. Therefore, the articles selected for the exam are far more advanced than ordinary English reading materials. In light of this, we have carefully selected and compiled a collection of challenging articles with some out-of-syllabus vocabulary to fully meet the practical training needs of candidates.
