Features: Since the publication of the French-Chinese Dictionary in 1978, it has been well-received by readers and has become a staple medium-sized comprehensive language dictionary for learners and users of French. However, twenty years have passed, and with societal development, language has also evolved. The usage of certain French words has changed, and many new terms have emerged. To meet readers' needs, we began this revision in 1998. This revision has added numerous new entries, focusing on incorporating newly coined terms in fields such as economics, law, and science and technology (including computer science, information science, and biotechnology). At the same time, some outdated entries that are no longer commonly included in medium-sized French dictionaries and examples with specific historical connotations have been removed. Additionally, the definitions and usage of a substantial number of entries have been revised or supplemented, and certain formatting changes have been made. The dictionary has also adopted newer phonetic rules based on the evolution of pronunciation. The revised dictionary now contains approximately 65,000 entries, with increased capacity compared to the original. Our goal is to make the revised New French-Chinese Dictionary a more comprehensive and practical medium-sized dictionary.
