Features: Stephen Hawking is one of the most outstanding physicists after Albert Einstein. He was born in Oxford, England in 1942 and studied mathematics, physics, and cosmology at the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge. In 1963, Hawking was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and doctors said he could only live for two more years. After a brief period of disappointment and frustration, Hawking resumed his research on cosmology. He later made outstanding achievements in fields such as relativity, the Big Bang, and black holes. The cosmology book "A Brief History of Time: From the Big Bang to Black Holes," published by Hawking in 1988, is a landmark bestseller. Hawking has been diagnosed with the disease for over 40 years, but he is still dedicated to theoretical research on the origin of the universe and continues to work tirelessly for the grand unification theory. Hawking is currently the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge, a position once held by Isaac Newton.
