Features: The reading comprehension section in the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) is relatively difficult and carries a high weight in the exam. Many candidates, despite practicing extensively for the test, still struggle with this section, sometimes even leading to failure. The reasons for this include insufficient vocabulary, weak grammar skills, and a lack of mastery in reading methods and problem-solving techniques. The reading comprehension questions feature passages of varying lengths, genres, and content, but they all follow certain inherent patterns in their question-setting. The purpose of this book is to summarize and analyze recent years' exam questions, combining the authors' extensive experience in tutoring candidates, to clarify these patterns and propose corresponding problem-solving methods for reference by all candidates. We believe these methods and techniques are highly targeted, simple to learn, and can help learners quickly identify key words, understand the underlying logic of the questions, and thus arrive at the correct answers. We also hope this book will help candidates move beyond the of "mindless practice" and achieve twice the result with half the effort. This book has the following distinct features:
1. Emphasizes reading methods and problem-solving techniques
2. Selects materials suitable for general exam requirements, also offering reading value
3. Reveals the key factors limiting reading proficiency and summarizes exam strategies
4. Provides in-depth analysis of complex sentence structures in reading passages
To enhance the of exam reading practice, this book includes an excerpt summary and subheadings before each example passage. The excerpt summaries focus on introducing the content of the selected passages and key practice points. The added subheadings are not originally part of the exam questions and do not necessarily appear in future exams. Readers are advised to pay attention. At the same time, to avoid making the subheadings additional hints that could lower the reading difficulty, this book strives not to let the subheadings summarize or hint at the passage content. As a result, some subheadings may seem distant from the original text. The materials used in this book are partly derived from past reading comprehension questions of the JLPT at corresponding levels and partly excerpted from original works in Japanese newspapers, magazines, and books. The sources of the selected passages are as clearly indicated as possible.
