Features: The concept of this book: In the Verbal section of the GRE, reading requires solid fundamentals as well as strong reading skills and techniques, along with a proficient command of GRE vocabulary. There are rarely shortcuts; however, analogies and antonyms require less time but account for a significant proportion of the score. Therefore, to achieve substantial improvement in a short period, it is advisable to start with vocabulary to enhance the speed and accuracy of analogies and antonyms. This book organically integrates the clusters, test methods, and questions of all GRE vocabulary in a categorized form. All vocabulary is derived from actual test questions, analyzed, organized, and classified reasonably to strengthen memory. After clarifying the book's approach, its structure reflects its features and usage methods, specifically as follows:
(1) Most of the vocabulary in this book comes from the full North American tests published by Princeton from 1984 to 1996 (including all authentic practice tests numbered 2-9) as well as domestic tests from 1990 to 1999. The vocabulary is annotated according to the frequently tested meanings in the GRE.
(2) This is the only GRE vocabulary book in China that organically integrates all GRE vocabulary clusters, test methods, and questions in a categorized form.
(3) The chapter of this book is the general classification of GRE vocabulary, containing approximately 7,100 words, which can be used by GRE candidates for learning and memorizing words. Through this chapter, you can remember all frequently tested GRE words with the same Chinese meaning, enabling you to associate related vocabulary when encountering a word and achieve flexible application of vocabulary.
(4) The performance in analogies and antonyms significantly determines your Verbal section score. To solve each question quickly, you must not only understand the word meanings but also familiarize yourself with the corresponding relationships (i.e., the antonym relationships in antonyms and the analogy relationships in analogies). In light of this, I have meticulously analyzed and organized all authentic test questions and their vocabulary, classifying them reasonably. The book's third chapter presents the 272 frequently tested antonym clusters from all test questions for statistical and systematic organization.
(5) This book lists the main antonym and analogy questions from the new tests between 1996 and 1999, helping candidates identify and grasp the direction of GRE vocabulary tests. Additionally, in Chapter 4, I provide annotations on certain analogy relationships and the solutions to analogy questions, which can effectively assist you in solving GRE analogy questions.
(6) This book is not only highly beneficial for GRE candidates but can also be used by other English learners to memorize and expand their vocabulary.
