What should I do if my child has antibodies but has also received the hepatitis B vaccine?

Patient's question:

My baby has been tested positive for antibodies, yet he has received the hepatitis B vaccine. Could anyone please advise what impact this might have and what should be done?

Doctor's answer:

No need for a third dose. After the first injection of the hepatitis B vaccine, 30% of people develop surface antibodies, 50-70% develop surface antibodies after the second injection, and 90% develop surface antibodies after the third injection. One month after receiving the hepatitis B vaccine, retest the hepatitis B surface antibody. If the hbsab test is positive, it indicates the presence of hepatitis B virus antibodies in the body, effectively preventing hepatitis B virus.
