The Gospel of Wealth

Author: Carnegie
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2006-08-01
Features: Another interesting story about this article is that Mr. Gladstone, one of the greatest British politicians of the 19th century and then Prime Minister, read the article and highly praised it. He personally wrote to the editor of The North American Review requesting permission to publish the article in the UK. Inspired, Carnegie, under the editor's encouragement, wrote a sequel titled The Best Fields for Charitable Donations. Later, due to strong societal demand, Carnegie compiled these two articles along with several others into a standalone book titled The Gospel of Wealth. After its publication, the book was reprinted in the West repeatedly over the past 100 years and was highly praised and revered by entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and the general public, becoming a classic work that cannot be surpassed in the field of philanthropy. In July 2006, Bill Gates, the world's first billionaire who had donated $29 billion to philanthropic causes, also announced his withdrawal from Microsoft to fully dedicate himself to charitable work. As a result, in recent times, the "philanthropic spirit" of Americans and Carnegie's classic work The Gospel of Wealth have once again become a focal point of global media and public attention. China is also currently working to eliminate the wealth gap and build a harmonious society, and some of the ideas advocated by The Gospel of Wealth may hold reference value for us.
