Jiang Wen's directorial debut, Sunshine on a Broken Cloud, has been released for ten years. To commemorate the film's production, The Birth of a Film, written by Jiang Wen eight years ago and documenting the filming process, has recently been re-published by Yangtze Literature and Art Press. At the book's re-launch event, Jiang Wen, wearing a floral shirt, caused quite a stir upon his arrival, with Wen Jun, Xia Yu, Tao Hong, Geng Le, and others rushing to shake his hand and hug him. Looking back at this debut film, Jiang Wen considers it an excellent movie and feels he has no regrets. He often turns to it for solace when feeling troubled. Compared to the original version published eight years ago, the new edition of The Birth includes more complete photographic and textual materials related to the film. Additionally, the book features contributions from direct participants of the film, such as Liu Xiaoqing, Wang Shuo, Gu Changwei, Siqin Gao, Feng Xiaogang, Tao Hong, and Xia Yu, who have written down unforgettable stories and emotions from that time.
