Features: This journal has won the National Journal Award for the third consecutive year. This collection of excellence essentially represents the newest creative standards of Chinese short and medium-length fiction in mainland China in 2005. It covers a broader and more diverse range of social fields, presents more profound and incisive themes, features more unique and engaging plots, and portrays more vivid and dynamic characters. The book still adheres to the established editorial format, consisting of two major sections: medium-length fiction and short fiction. Each work is arranged in the order it was published in the journal, with a recent photograph and a brief biography of the author preceding each short story. The stories pay greater attention to social realities, care about the fate of the people, show concern for the warmth of life, and care for the world of the soul, further highlighting the responsibility and conscience of the writers. As the Honorary Advisor of the journal, Ba Jin said, "Why do people need literature? It is needed to sweep away the garbage in our hearts, to bring us hope, courage, and strength, and to show us more light."
