Collected Works by Zhou Zuoren—The Book of Rainy Days

Author: Zhou Zuoren
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2002-01-01
Features: The Book of Rainy Days can display the stylistic characteristics of Zhou Zuoren's early essays. This is perfectly described by his own words in the Second Preface, "I lately write essays, greatly admiring the state of simplicity and nature." Moreover, the idea that "beyond the daily necessities, we must have a little useless play and enjoyment for life to be meaningful" (from Tea Eats in Beijing), and "accidental moments of leisure are also indispensable" (from Tea Drinking), reflect some new elements in the author's attitude toward life, differing somewhat from the image shown in books like Art and Life.
