This is not because I adhere to the principle of moral instruction, but simply because of the distinction in style. I am not fond of moral instruction, even when I try to write prefaces for major works, I always fail to enter the author's realm. The result is that even though they are not epigraphs, they are still considered small pieces. The complete collection has seventy-five pieces, and now I have selected fifty-three, divided into two parts. Both parts are self-authored prefaces, with thirty-six pieces retained, and the second part contains seventeen pieces, all of which are prefaces and postfaces written for others. Most of them involve folkloristics and literature, and there may be many remarks from outsiders. Although the selection aims for strictness, it is still inevitable. Readers, please understand."
