Ruoergeng, meaning "the spacious area at the mouth of the valley," is located at the junction of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, belonging to Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. In the endless, majestic mountains of the Hengduan Mountains, there lies a sacred and long-desired land—"Shangri-La." Due to the government of Ruoergeng County implementing a protective development policy for the scenic area, visitors can only stay in Yading Village, allowing the area to retain its original charm. Approximately one hour's ride on horseback from Yading Village leads to Chonggu Temple within the scenic area. Due to the passage of time, the temple has suffered from neglect, leaving only the ruins of its main hall and some buildings. It is said that local authorities are currently raising funds to fully restore the temple.
