Features: Among this series of books, College English Listening Practice for CET-4 is closely aligned with the reform requirements of the CET-4, providing a comprehensive and systematic analysis of the new trends in the CET-4 listening exam. It delves into the finer details, systematically analyzing and breaking down both old and new question types, offering winning strategies for candidates to quickly and effectively master the post-reform CET-4 listening exam. The features of this book are summarized as follows:
Teaching (exam-taking) skills, uncovering the new question types: The post-reform CET-4 listening exam introduces long conversations in addition to the original short dialogues, short passages, and compound dictation. It also changes the original model of only two question types appearing in each exam (i.e., short dialogues + short passages/compound dictation), with all four types now appearing in every exam.
Directly targeting key points, providing the "way to conquer the questions": The authors meticulously studied past CET-4 listening exam papers, grasped the (question-setting) patterns, and, based on their understanding of the CET-4 listening reform, as well as an analysis of the Pilot Test Samples of the College English Test Band 4 (CET-4), have compiled 20 sets of full-length CET-4 listening practice exercises in Chapter 2. These exercises help candidates become familiar with the new CET-4 listening format in time.
Pay attention to details, leaving no stone unturned: As the saying goes, "Only by mastering the details can one truly leave no stone unturned." Only by grasping the details can one achieve this. After each practice set, this book lists the frequent vocabulary, i.e., the high-frequency syllabus words that appear in that set, to help candidates reinforce their memory of high-frequency syllabus words while practicing listening.
The appendix of this book includes the pronunciation table for CET-4 listening, common homophones and near-homophones in CET-4 listening, vocabulary and expressions related to CET-4 listening scenes, a summary of frequently used short words in CET-4 listening, common sentence patterns in CET-4 listening, and common names of people, places, and countries in CET-4 listening. These resources provide candidates with a solid knowledge base to conquer the new CET-4 listening exam.
