How long should newborn jaundice be exposed to sunlight?

Patient's question:

The doll was born on the second day and started showing. I noticed that her face is a little yellow now. The doctor at the hospital said it's normal and suggested that after discharge, she should be exposed to more sunlight at home, and the will go away. I want to ask how long should the baby be exposed to sunlight?

Doctor's answer:

Dear Parent,
The baby should be exposed to sunlight for 30-40 minutes each day, divided into two sessions. This should be done before 10 a.m. in the morning and after 4 p.m. in the afternoon. However, on days without wind, it is best to expose as much of the baby’s skin as possible to natural light (including the skin on the face and hands) as long as the eyes are not directly exposed to the sun.
It is also recommended that you give the baby sweet sugar water daily, as it can help reduce jaundice.
