Features: The articles included in this book span nearly four decades, from the Xinhai Revolution of 1911 to the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949. The approximately 300 redology critiques and essays by over 100 authors consist of: short reviews, miscellaneous thoughts, and academic papers; minor studies, annotations, and interpretations; discussions on the authors' backgrounds, editions, and the exploration of the later 40 chapters; prefaces, book reviews, and book notes. Among these, short reviews and miscellaneous thoughts account for about half. The book adopts a comprehensive and inclusive approach, making no distinction based on academic perspectives, cultural backgrounds, or political inclinations. In terms of form, it combines lengthy, tens-of-thousand-word treatises with concise, hundreds-of-word supplementary notes. In the first half of this century, there were very few single-volume redology works. It is hoped that this large-scale reference book, by compiling hundreds of redology research articles scattered in newspapers and magazines and adding well-known critiques by renowned scholars, can roughly reconstruct the authentic state of Dream of the Red Chamber studies during this period.
