Features: Zizhi Tongjian (abbreviated as Tongjian) is a renowned chronological history book in Chinese history, covering events from the 23rd year of King Weilie of Zhou (403 BC) to the 6th year of Xingde in the Later Zhou Dynasty (959 AD), a total of 1,362 years of history. It is the most valuable and longest-recorded national chronological history book in our country. The author was Sima Guang, a famous political figure and historian in Chinese history. Two years after Tongjian was completed, on the 4th day of the 10th month in the first year of Yuanyou (1086), it was engraved in Hangzhou, marking the second printing of the book, known as the Yuanyou edition or Hangzhou edition, which is considered the original edition of Tongjian. Subsequently, there were multiple re-engravings. If we exclude the branches and only consider the single lineage, then the transmission refers to the engraving of the first day of the 7th month in the second year of Jixin (1132) in Yuyao County, Shaoxing Prefecture, completed on the 20th day of the 12th month in the third year of Shaoxing, and presented to the court. This edition was based on the Yuanyou edition and is known as the Shaoxing re-engraved edition. Today, the original edition is no longer available, and this Shaoxing re-engraved edition is now the earliest existing printed version of Tongjian.
