Features: Mr. Zhou Tianwei is a Chinese-American lawyer and legal scholar, holding a Ph.D. in Law from the University of California. Before specializing in law, he majored in economics and pursued further studies in economics and East Asian regional research. Mr. Zhou's legal career spans the United States and the three regions of China, with his legal practice covering areas such as direct investment, innovative technology, and international finance. Through the study of legal philosophy, he seeks dialogue and understanding between Eastern and Western civilizations, exploring the ever-changing world. The legal literature of ancient and modern times provides an ideal realm and boundless country where one can roam freely, also serving as a sanctuary for the mind and body. This book is a research outcome of the author, conceived and planned over many years, and took six months to complete. The traditional Chinese edition was first launched in Taipei under the title Socrates and Mencius: A Virtual Dialogue on Constructing a Rule of Law Utopia. The traditional Chinese edition received positive reviews and went into a second printing two months after publication. It was also listed on the bestseller list of Asia Weekly in Hong Kong. Currently, Commercial Press has obtained the author's authorization to publish the simplified Chinese edition for readers.
In addition to the rule of law issues, legal history, and Eastern and Western legal thought related to this book, Mr. Zhou regularly focuses on legal subjects such as property economics and international finance. In recent years, he has taught courses on the economic analysis of law at the Legal Research Institute of Fudan University. He is also scheduled to serve as a part-time professor at the Guanghua School of Management, Peking University, starting in the spring of 2001, teaching courses on international financial transactions and regulations.
Mr. Zhou Tianwei is the founder of China At Par (CHINAATPAR), serving as President and CEO. His email address is: chou@cAtPar.com.
