Features: This book is the fifth volume of the Complete Works of Zhu Ziqing. The Complete Works of Zhu Ziqing include essays (covering late rational essays, essays on miscellaneous topics, pedagogy, reading guidance, as well as critiques on literary creation, literary works, and academic treatises, along with a small number of short stories, reading notes, and translations), poetry (including new poetry and traditional verse), academic treatises, diaries, and letters, among others. Through this volume, readers can understand the life of Mr. Zhu Ziqing as a modern Chinese literary figure, scholar, and patriotic democratic fighter, his literary achievements and outstanding contributions to modern Chinese literature, as well as his ideological journey from a recluse to a warrior. Meanwhile, the diaries and letters also provide us with extremely valuable historical materials. This volume is the poetry section of the Complete Works of Zhu Ziqing, containing a total of 334 poems, including new poetry, lyrics, and traditional verse. Among them, there are 63 new poems (including three translations, excluding lyrics), arranged in chronological order of writing or publication. Those not included in these two collections are mainly those written after 1925. Among them, the two long poems, War—To W and The Night Cries of Korea, were discovered by Liu Yukai, a student of the Chinese Department at Hebei University, in the Beijing Morning News supplement in that year. We are grateful to him for sending these two poems to the compilers, allowing them to be included in this volume of the Complete Works. There are 8 lyrics, most of which are school songs or grade songs for a particular year, except for O Our China, the only one that is not. This song that inspired the anti-Japanese resistance was performed by 600 patriotic students in front of the Taihe Hall in the Forbidden City Square in spring 1936 for the citizens of Beiping at the time. There are 263 traditional verse poems, including 5 translations, most of which are collected in the Scrapbook and Poetry Collection of Youxian Yiguzhai, which Zhu Ziqing personally compiled before his death. Apart from these two collections, only 6 additional poems have been found, and three of them are collaborative poems with others, all listed as "supplements" at the end.
