Features: Introduction Aリ is located at the western end of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and is the birthplace of the later propagation of Tibetan Buddhism. It has rich temple and grotto ruins, as well as exquisite sculptures and murals. These cultural heritage sites urgently need rescue and protection. From 1996 to 1999, the Aリ Cultural Heritage Rescue Leadership Group and Office, led by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, the People's Government of Tibet Autonomous Region, the Cultural Heritage Bureau of Tibet Autonomous Region, and the People's Government of Aリ Prefecture, and composed of experts from Beijing, Hebei, and Shaanxi, conducted comprehensive survey and design on the Toling Monastery, the ruins of the Guge Kingdom capital, and the Dongga Piying site in the region. They carried out targeted archaeological excavations and implemented partial preservation in a step-by-step manner.
