Patient's question:
I have a genital candidiasis infection (due to long-term phimosis, there is often a cheesy, smelly discharge in my foreskin and head, with a pungent odor). I bought fluconazole tablets, a box of three, with each tablet being 50mg.How should I take the medication? How long will it take to recover?
Doctor's answer:
Hello,Genital candidiasis is primarily caused by Candida albicans, a common mucosal candidiasis that can affect both males and females. The affected area should be rinsed with physiological saline or a 0.1% Rivanol solution 2-3 times daily. After rinsing, apply a 1%-2% gentian violet solution or the aforementioned imidazole creams externally. If the prepuce is (long), circumcision should be performed after healing to prevent recurrence. For concurrent urethritis, oral administration of ketoconazole, fluconazole, or itraconazole can be used.
