Publish Date: 2005-03-01
Features: The book consists of eight chapters.
Chapter 1 explores the possibility of integrating and communicating human thinking methods.
Chapter 2 begins to study literary and artistic issues using the methodology of New Rationalism.
Chapter 3 further describes the essence of literature and art as a conceptual system.
Chapter 4 discusses the striking similarities between the characteristics of Western modernist literature and ancient Chinese theory of imagery, addressing the main questions raised since 1990 about the "symbolic image" theory I proposed, and reiterating the modern significance of ancient Chinese theory of imagery.
Chapter 5, due to the establishment of the "symbolic image" theory of imagery, forms a tripartite structure of artistic ideals, comprising Chinese theory of artistic conception, theory of imagery, and Western theory of typicality.
Chapter 6 examines the alignment between Chinese theory of vitality and dynamism and Western theory of life forms.
Chapter 7, through a comparative argument between Western theory of mimesis and Chinese theory of imitating the mind, demonstrates that Western theory of mimesis, as a logical starting point, is a pseudo-proposition, while ancient Chinese theory of imitating the mind is a true proposition of creative theory.
Chapter 8 uses Chinese theories of language, image, and meaning to reformulate Western modern text-level theory.
