The Great Series of New Chinese Literature is a collection of theories and works from the first decade (1917–1927) of the New Literature Movement in China, edited by Lu Xun, Mao Dun, and others. It was compiled and edited by Zhao Jiabi of Shanghai Liangyou Publishing Company and published between 1935 and 1936. The entire series is divided into ten volumes, with a preface written by Cai Yuanpei and an introduction by the compilers: Volume 1: The Collection of Construction Theories (compiled by Hu Shi), Volume 2: The Collection of Literary Debates (compiled by Zheng Zhenduo), Volume 3: The First Collection of Fiction (compiled by Mao Dun), Volume 4: The Second Collection of Fiction (compiled by Lu Xun), Volume 5: The Third Collection of Fiction (compiled by Zheng Boqi), Volume 6: The First Collection of Prose (compiled by Zhou Zuoren), Volume 7: The Second Collection of Prose (compiled by Yu Dafu), Volume 8: The Collection of Poetry (compiled by Zhu Ziqing), Volume 9: The Collection of Drama (compiled by Hong Shen), and Volume 10: Historical Materials and Indexes (compiled by Ai Ying). In June 1981, 20,000 sets were facsimile-reprinted based on the original books, and at the readers' request, another 3,000 sets were facsimile-reprinted in June 2003 based on the original books.
